Last year was filled with plenty of action filled blockbusters, each with their own massive fan-bases. Movies like The Avengers, The Hunger Games, and The Dark Knight Rises all were heart-pounding thrillers that highlighted 2012. Each movie lived up to the hype and became worldwide blockbusters. Does 2013 hold such potential for another group of successful action adventures?
CATCHING FIRE
Last year’s cinematic masterpiece, The Hunger Games, was a wonderful adaptation of the Suzanne Collins book that had millions of eager readers rushing to the theaters to see their favorite characters on the big screen. After such an amazing first appearance that left the book fans in awe, the next installment, Catching Fire, will be coming out in November. In this second movie adaptation, Katniss Everdeen and her love interest Peeta Mellark are forced to enter the hated arena in the seventy-fifth annual Hunger Games. Due to the success of the first film, it is expected that this one will equally please the “Hungry” fans. May the odds be ever in your favor.
MONSTERS U
Everyone loves the Pixar animated film Monsters Inc. Many have wondered if there will ever be a sequel to the feel good movie about a little girl and two not so scary monsters. Now, over ten years later, we receive the much-awaited prequel, Monsters U. This film shows a glimpse of a monster in training as Mike and Sully go through college to become the two best monsters in town. Everyone who loved the first is sure to love this newest monster story.
