Last week, on October 17th the Ocean City Fire Department hosted an open house and welcomed the community of Ocean City into their firehouse on 6th and Asbury. Hundreds were in attendance to view what goes on in the life of a firefighter. On display, several of the OCFD’s fire trucks, old and new were on display. The main lesson that OCFD was teaching through the evening was to “Look, Listen and Learn”. Several other local enforcement agencies came to visit, such as the Ocean City Police Department, South Jersey Transport Planning Organization, New Jersey Forest Fire Service and the North Wildwood Fire Department, The ladder of which bought their very own “Smoke-House” to show the use of smoke alarms and demonstrate evacuation procedures. Other activities throughout the evening demonstrating fire safety, such as a “Jaws of Life” demonstration, fire hose aiming games, and to cap off the evening, a live burn house! Overall, this was a fantastic event put on by our local Ocean City Fire Department to demonstrate fire safety and is worth your time and the event comes highly recommended.
